The study was conducted to select drought tolerant and high yielding groundnut varieties for development in production. The two-factor experiment was arranged in a split-plot designin nethouse at Vietnam National University of Agriculture in the Autumn2022. The first factor were six groundnut varieties (LC1, LC2, LC3, LC4, LC5, ĐBG) and the second factor included drought stress and non-drought stress condition. The results showed that drought stress reduces growth, physiology and yield (plant height, primary branch length, leaf number on main stem, nodule formation, chlorophyll fluorescence efficiency, SPAD index, number of pod/plant, individual yield) while increasing water saturation deficit and ion leakage. Comparison among varieties showed that LC3 and LC2 were more tolerant with high drought tolerance index (0.72 and 0.69, respectively) and low yield reduction due to drought (36.53% and 35.00%, respectively).
