A Novel Regression Approach for wind Speed Forecasting

The paper presents a spatio-temporal data forecasting approach using Linear Regression (LR) in two steps called two-step LR. In the first step, all features were divided into subgroups and Linear Regressions was utilized to obtain a regression value for each feature subgroup. In the second step, Linear Regressions was applied again to these regression values to generate the final regression value. The approach using two-step LR had state-of-the-art performance for a wind speed forecasting problem. Wind speed forecasting would be useful for the integration of wind energy into the power grid because wind power generated by wind turbines has an intimate relationship with wind speed and unpredictability and variability of wind speed is one of the fundamental difficulties of this integration system.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease) is an infectious disease caused by a novel strain of Coronavirus that causes a severe acute respiratory syndrome, known as SARS-CoV-2.COVID-19 has posed a serious global public health emergency. Within a short periodof time, the spreadof the virushasbeen recordedin 213 countries. The zoonotic transmission from the bat (bat-to-human) is suspected as the route of disease origin. Furthermore, the emerging public health crisis raises many urgent questions regarding SARS-CoV-2 and animal infection. Several animal models have been reported as candidates for evaluating the efficacy and safety of antiviral drugs or experimental vaccine trials against SARS-CoV-2. Therefore, this review brieflydiscusses COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 with a particular focus on animal rolesand their susceptibility to the virus.
Growth and Grain Yield of Newly Developed Rice Lines with Very Short Growth Duration in Summer - Autumn Cropping Season in Nghe An Province

The field experiments were laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications in 2014 and 2015 summer- autumn cropping season in Yen Thanh and Quy Hop district of Nghe An province to assess the growth and grain yield of fivenewextremely early maturing rice lines (D1, D2, D3, D4,andD5) with twocheck varieties,Khang Dan 18 (KD18)andVat tu- NA2 (NA2). The results showed that the growth duration of therice lines ranged from 88to96 days,shorter than that of the check varieties. Dry matter accumulation rate oftherice lines before heading stage wassignificantly higher than that of the check varietieswhilepest and disease infestationof thelines was lowerat all growth stages.Grain yield accumulation (kg/ha/day) oftherice lines (except D3) wascomparable to orhigher than that of the check varieties. Grain yield oftherice lines was similar to or significantly higher than the check varieties, withD5 showing highest yield in both growing seasons. Amylose content of the rice lines wasbelow 23%, much lower than that of KD18 (above 28%). Cooking quality ofD5 was higher than that of KD18 but similar toNA2.
Result of Selection New two-line Hybrid Rice in Daklak Province

An experiment was carried out to compare two-line hybrid rice combinationsin Winter-Spring and Summer-Autum season inEakar, Krong Ana and Buon Ma Thuot City of Daklak province. The resultsshowedthat thehybrids have short growing duration,ranging from 92-112 days in Winter-Spring season and 89-114 days in Summer-Autum season. They have from 12.0 to 13.5 leaves per main stemandplant height ranging from 75.0 to 100.0 cm. They have good resistance to diseases and insects, such as brown plant hopper, baterial leaf blightandleaf blight. They have yield ranging from 7.8-9.1 tons/hectare in Winter-Spring season and 6.3-8,4 tons/hectare in Summer-Autum season. Based on yield and quality three hybrid combinations, viz.TH3-3, TH3-5, and TH7-5 were selected for development of two-line hybrid rice in Daklak province.
Determination of the Suitable Ratio of Digestible Lysine to Metabolisable Energy in the Diet of Pregnant Sows under the Opened and Closed Housing Conditions

This study was conducted to determine the effects of the ratio of digestible lysine/metabolisable energy (ME) in the diets of pregnant sows on reproductive performance, feed conversion ratio, loss of body weight, and post-weaning time to returned estrus. This study included 2 experiments, one in a closed housing condition in Ba Vi pig farm and one in an opened housing condition in Pho Yen pig farm. In each experiment, 30 pregnant sows (Landrace and Yorkshire crossbred) from 2 to 4 parities were arranged according to a completely randomized design into 30 individual pens with 3 treatments (with the digestible lysine/ME ratios of 1,56; 1,76 và 1,95 g/Mcal), each treatment consisted of 10 animals in 10 pens, 1 sow/pen and each pen was considered a replicate. The results showed that in both opened and closed housing conditions, an increase in the ratio of digestible lysine/ME in pregnant sow diets increased neonatal and weaning piglet weight (per litter and per head), and reduced feed consumption per kg of weaned piglets and weight loss of lactation sows. The appropriate digestible lysine/ME ratio in the diet of pregnant sows was from 1.76 to 1.95 g/Mcal.
Breeding and Developing the Inbred Rice Cultivars ĐH12 for Northern Vietnam

This study was carried out to breed the inbred variety with short grown duration, high yield, good quality and lightpest-resistant for Northern region of Vietnam. The DH12 was developed from segregational populations, which have derived from R2/R9311 line combination and selected by the pedigree method. DH12 has a short grown duration, 130-135 days in the spring season, 105-110 days in the summer season, 98-102 days in the Autumnseason. DH12 has good characteristics such as averageplantheight, roll flat leaves and light diseases infection. In field trials, DH12 has yield 7.2-7.8 tons/hectare in the spring season, 6.5-6.8 tons in summer season and 5.8-6.0 tons in the autumnseason, higher than controlvariety (Khang dan 18) from 10.1 to 22.0%. DH12 has milling rice 63.34%, head rice recovery 58.64%, long grain 6.9 mm, slender grain and good cooking quality. Thus, the breeding through cross hybrid between quality rice variety and intensive variety, and was selected by pedigree method, which can create new rice variety, has good quality, high yield and suitable cultivable with the conditions in northern Vietnam.
Successful Application of Aeroponic System in Propagation of (Dendrobium nobile Lindl.)in the Nursery Phase

The application of aeroponic system for propagation of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. in the nursery phase has opened a new way for the development of the model in culturing this species in the northern provinces. The results showed that Dendrobium nobile Lindl. grown in the aeroponic system had the maximum adaptability, attaining survival rate of 100% after one month of planting in the spring, spring-summer and summer seasons. The aeroponic system can be applied for propagation in all cropping seasons around the year, while the hydroponic system or planting on the substrate cannot be done in the summer period. The plants grow better in the aeroponic nutrient solution III (improved from Knoop solution) with pH = 6.0 - 6.5; EC = 400 - 500 µs/cm; the spraying time of 2 minutes in 4 hours interval.
BREEDING SHORT GROWTH DURATION OF RICE DERIVEDFROM A CROSS BETWEEN INDICA CULTIVAR IR24 (ORYZA SATIVAL.) AND ORYZA RUFIPOGONSPECIES

The cross between indica cultivar IR24 (Oryza sativa L.) and an accession of Oryza rufipogon Griff., was backcrossed to the recurrent parent (IR24) for four generations followed by repeated selfing and selection for short growth duration lines. A total of 19 backcross lines at BC4F5 generation were evaluated at spring crop seasons of 2011 in Ha Noi and 23 BC4F6 were further evaluated for agronomical traits in 2011 autumn cropping seasons in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, and Lao Cai provinces. Among the introgression lines (IL), four lines (IL3-4-2-1-1, IL3-4-2-7-1, IL3-4-7-2 and IL19-4-3-8-2) showed shoter growth duration (10-12 days) than that of the recurrent parent IR24 and the control variety Khang dan 18 (10 -12 days), but grain yield was significantly higher than IR24 and Khang dan 18.
Poverty Reduction in the Ethnic Minority Group: Current Situation, A View of Points and Policy Orientation

For the lastthree decades, considerable resources have been devoted to poverty in the ethnic minority areas with an impressivepoverty reduction result. However, the ethnic minority areas still have high poverty rates. This research aims ats assessingof povertyreduction process in the ethnic minority areas, suggesting a view of points, policy renovation and orientations for poverty reduction in the ethnic minority regions in the coming years.Findings indicate that although the country has attained poverty reduction targets but the share of the ethnic minority poor groups in total national poor is increasing yearly. There exist flaws in the poverty reduction policy systems. With this regard, the research recommends the need to renovate points of view on poverty reduction such as sustainable poverty reduction with people centered oriented, focusing ethnic minority groups and multiple criterial poverty reduction.There is a need to renovate poverty reduction policies towards minimizing subsidies, close links public investment with poverty reduction results, strengthening grassroot people’s participation, more flexible, effective and efficient implementation systems.
Jobs and Life of Rural Women Working Part-time in Hanoi

At the present, about 53% female rural labors work partime in Hanoi. With a low literacy level, they often choose jobs as family care, selling goods in the streets or in-waiting labor markets. Although working time is rather long (11-13 hours/day) and continuously, their montly income average only ranges from VND 2.34 to 3.8 million. 100% labors selling goods in the streets and in-waiting labor market have to work in unsafe environments; their daily life are rather poor. 22.86% female freelane labors live in boarding houses characterized by poor facilities, insanitation and unsafeness. They always feel lonely and home-sick and lack of leisure time. Both internal factors (literacy levels, ages, health status, marital status, job-orientation) and external factors (living and working environments in cities, home-town customs, working conditions and relating policies) were identified as the determinants affecting to jobs and daily life of female rural labors working part-time in Hanoi. Some policy measures were proposed to be taken to help female rural labors working part-time in Hanoi for better jobs and life.
Identification and Evaluation of Some Characteristics of Actinomyces Isolates as Potential Agents for Controling Anthracnose Disease on Momordica cochinchinensis

The research was carried out in the laboratory of Plant Protection department, Can Tho University. The airmsof this research were to (i) identify the actinomycesisolates that were able to control anthracnose disease on Momordica cochinchinensisand (ii) examine their characteristics. Based on the culture, morphological, physiologicalandbiochemicalcharacteristics and sequencing of the16S-rRNA gene,five actinomycetes isolates were identified as five species: Streptomyces avellaneus, Streptomyces pallidus, Streptomyces vinaceus, Streptomyces showdoensis and Streptomyces exfoliatus.Chitinase activity assay tested on chitin medium showed that S. pallidus andS.vinaceusisolates hadchitinolytic activity, with the chitin lyses halo radius of 13.6 mm and 12.9 mm,respectively,at 7 days after testing. β-glucanase activity assay tested on β-glucanmediumindicated thatS.avellaneushadthe β-glucanolytic activity, with the β-glucanlyses halo radius of 6.0 mm at 13 days after testing.
Comparison of Spectral Clustering Algorithms for Gene Expression Data

Spectral clustering algorithms have been the most effective algorithms to divide genes into groups accordingto the degree of their expression similarity. Such a grouping may suggestthat the respective genes are correlated and/or co-regulated, and subsequently indicatesthat the genes could possibly share a common biological role. In this paper,three spectral clustering algorithms were investigated: unnormalized spectral clustering, normalized spectral clustering according to Shi and Malik (2000), and normalized spectral clustering according to Ng, Jordan and Weiss (2002). The algorithms were benchmarked against each other.The performance of the three clustering algorithms wasstudied on time series expressiondata using Dynamic TimeWarping (DTW) distance in order to measure similarity betweengene expression profiles. Four different cluster validation measures were usedto evaluate the clustering algorithms: Connectivity and Silhouette Index for estimatingthe quality of clusters, Jaccard Index for evaluating the stability of a clustermethod and Rand Index for assessing the accuracy. The results were analyzedby Friedman’s test. The performance of normalized spectral clustering according to Ng, Jordan and Weiss (2002)wasdemonstratedto be the best under the Silhouetteand Rand validation indices.

Effects of the African Swine Fever on Farmers’Livestock Activities in Long My District, Hau Giang Province

Faced with the highly complicated situation of the African Swine Fever, this study aimed to provide solutions to stabilize livelihoods for pig’s farmers, through a stratified random survey of 60 pig-breeding households in September 2019, combining descriptive statistical analysis and multivariate linear regression. Results showed that the number of heavily affected households accounted for 43.3%; slightly affected households only 15%, and unaffected households 41.7%. The majority of farmers' information on the African swine fever was late, in July and August, accounting for 88.9%. The price decreased from 42 to 25 thousand VND/kg of live pigs. The African swine fever incidence was influenced by three factors, viz the number of employees involved inbreeding, the biogas system, and the African-swine-fever outbreak time. There were 81,67% of farmers who changed their livelihoods, mainly raising biosecure chickens and super meat ducks. The proposed solutions included encouraging the farmers to change their livelihoods according to local recommendations, loan and technology support, and people's participation; for pig maintaining households, their prevention would be carried out according to local guidelines, promptly updating disease information, restricting people to enter the breeding area, not using human leftovers for pigs during the epidemic season, and checking barn hygiene and Biogas systems.
Using Multi - Temporal MODIS Data for Mapping Paddy Rice Cultivation Area in Ninh Binh Province

NinhBinh province is one of main paddy cultivation areas in theRed River Delta. Mapping paddy rice area by using remote sensing techniques is useful for policy makers to manage and plan for food security and socio - economic development in the province as well as in the region.Multi - temporal eight - day composite MODIS images (MOD09A1, MOD09Q1) and Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) dataset were used for mapping paddy rice area. MODIS images were classified by using Maximum Likelihood Classification algorithm in testclassificationfollowed bysubpixel classification to increase the accuracy of classification result.Results of testclassification were over 74% (for the image taken on 02 June 2010) and 78% (forthe 14 September 2010 one) of land use classification in MODIS images. These results are acceptable for the moderate spatial resolution images. Result of Sub - pixel classification was over 86% (02 June 2010) and 90% (14 September 2010) of accuracy.
Building Image Database and Retrieval System for Rice Seed Identification

This paper presents a database of rice seeds properties to aid users in the assessment and recognition of seed characteristics of rice varieties based on their apprearance. Inspired by practical demands in quality control and rice seed purity assessment in seed production, we collected rice seeds of different varieties, acquired their images and consulted with experts about the visual properties for rice variety identification. As a result, we built a database of rice seed properties accompanied with their images and the description of the visual features. The database included popular rice varieties in the northern delta of Viet Nam. A database management system (DBMS) was built for managing and searching for rice seeds in the database. A web-based version of the DBMS was also developed. The system can be used to search for different rice varieties based on name and/or the description of the seed appearance. It can help users to learn about rice seed varieties, their visual features for discrimination and recognition. The system is easy to use, especially for non-IT users such as technicians, agronomy students or rice experts of rice seed production companies. This is also the first web-based database of rice varieties in Viet Nam with rice seed images to support rice seed searching and recognition.
The Changesin Gamma-aminobutytric Acid, Phytic Acid Content and Other Compositions in Soybean During Germination

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of germination temperature and time on gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), phytic acid (PA) and other compositions (protein, lipid and ash). The Vietnamese variety of soybean DT2010 was germintated at 26, 28 and 30C for 24, 36 and 48h. GABA was analysed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Phytic acid was determined by the colorimetric method. Protein, lipid and ash were analysed using Kjeldahl, extraction in n-hexan and incineration method, respectively. GABA content increased by 2.2 times in the sample germinated at 30C/36h, meanwhile protein increased by 1.15 times in the samples germinated at 28C/48h, as compared to those in the ungerminated samples. In contrast, phytic acid content decreased by 25.30% in the samples germinated at 28C/48h; lipid and ash content also decreased by 39.52% and 62.85%, respectively,in the samples germinated at 30C/48h, as compared to those in the ungerminated samples. These results would be such a benefit for producing soybean derived food products for human health.

The study aimed to determine the impacts of construction and development of economic zone on a number of land use management factors in Southeastern Economic Zone, Nghe An province. The study used method of surveying, comparing and analyzing secondary data, method of interviewing 148 officials and 480 households in 3 survey areas. The study uses Likert's 5-level scale to evaluate the process of building and developing economic zone, managing land use, using T-Test to check the differences in some indicators between objects and among 3 groups of households, use the correlation coefficient r (Spearman Ranking) to determine the impact level. The process of building and developing the economic zone with five selected criteria has been assessed at a high level by the people and management officials, there has been a difference between the two groups. The planning for construction of economic zones and development of functional zones has a major impact on land use management elements in region 1. Economic zone construction planning; functional area development; infrastructure development; attracting investment project capital and labor force that has a great impact on the land use rights transfer market, agricultural land prices and agricultural land use in region 2. Planning for construction of economic zones, development of functional areas and development of facilities. The infrastructure has a great impact on the transfer market of residential land use rights and the rights of land users in area 3.
Development of a Beta-Carotene-Rich Powder from Lekima (Pouteria lucuma)Fruit

The current research was conducted on lekima (Pouteria lucuma)fruit in order to produce a new product in powder form which is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, especially beta-carotene. The product attained in this research has a high potential application in food industry as a functional ingredient or a natural food coloring powder, and added value to the lekima farming. The fruit flesh was dried at 60oC in 8 h, then grounded into a very fine powder and packed in three layers packaging material. The lekima powder includes vitamin C content of 2.5 mg/100g dried matter (DM), totalcarotenoid of 1.33 mg/100g DM, and beta carotene content of 0.3 mg/100g DM. The product meets the food safety standard of the Ministry of Health.
Morphological Relationshipsbetween Clutch and Evaluation ofFecundity Black Apple Snail (Pila polita)

Morphological relationshipsbetween clutch and fecundity of black apple snail (Pila polita) was studied on the 349 clutches (in Dong Thap, Hau Giang and Vinh Long provinces) with the number of: 121, 113 and 115 clutches, respectively, which were collected from May to August 2017.At the same time, four-repeated experiments on rearing of 3 height groups snails (48.0-50.0 mm; 52.0-54.0 mm and 56.0-58.0 mm) were done to determine fecundity. The rearing was carried out in foam containers (60 × 45 × 40 cm) with a density of1 pair of broodstock snail/tank. Results of the study showed that the morphological relationship between clutch weight with clutch dimensions, the length of the clutch with the size criteria is quite tight (R2= 0.6-0.8). The fecundity of black apple snail is 208 eggs/snail, relative fecundity is 6208 eggs/kg snails. Spawning activity of black apple snail is mainly at night, starting from 20 pm to 4 am and lasts up to 8-12 hours. Black apple snail female is able to re-reproduce for the first time (42.7%).However, the ratio of the second batch is very low (8.3%), the average time for re-spawning of black apple snail is 42.2 days.
Evaluation of the Current Status of Employment of Labourafter Vocational Trainingin Hung Yen Province

In order to find out the status of the employment of labour after vocational trainingin Hung Yen province, the studywasconductedwiththe survey with 240 samples of the trained laborsin Phung Chi Kien commune (My Hao district) and Phu Thinh commune (Kim Dong district) in the period of 2011-2016, combined with in-depth interviews with district and commune leaders and the trained labors. The survey results showedthat Hung Yen province was very active in promulgating policies directly or indirectly affecting the employment creation. Most of the labour were employedafter traning, mostly self-employed or working the private sector. The article also evaluates the quality of work of the workers after vocational training on a number of perspectives such as income, working time, rest time, safety and stability in work.
Effect of Cultural Practices on Growth, Development and Yield of Panax vietnamensis varfuscidicusK. Komatsu, S. Zhu & S.Q. Cai in Lai Chau

Lai Chau ginseng (Panax vietnamensis var. fuscidiscus K. Komatsu, S. Zhu & S. Q. Cai), is a precious medicinal plant in Vietnam rich in saponin and of high economic value. The objective of this study was to examine the cultivation techniques of Lai Chauginseng to effectively conserve and develop this valuable species.The results showed that September and October were most suitable for planting and the productivity of the six-year-old plants was about 24.98 to 25.31 quintals/ha. At 2.000 m altitude above the sea level, Lai Chauginseng grew rapidly, and reached higher quality than plants in planting areas at 1.000 and 1.500 m above sea level. At 90% of shade, the seedlings grew well and pest infestation was reduced. Plant spacing of 30×30 cm and 35×30 cm was suitable for cultivation of Lai Chauginseng.

The study aims at analyzing the situation to recommend measures to improve disease risk management in shrimp farming in Nam Dinh province. The study was conducted in three coastal districts, including Giao Thuy, Hai Hau and Nghia Hung. The data was collected through surveys with 120 shrimp farming households and note taking records in 910 shrimp pondsto analyze the disease’s likelihood, damages and households’ risk management strategies. In Nam Dinh, within 2010 and 2016, the shrimp farming area reduced from 3.632 to 2.834 hectares, corresponding to 59.52 to 45.30% of the total aquaculture area in brackish water. Over 80% of total shrimp pondssuffered loss fromdiseaseswithin 2015 and 2016. The disease risk managementcoastal areas could be improvedthroughvarious measures, including efficiency improvement in the state management in aquacultureareaplanning, infrastructuresynchronization, capacity building for the shrimp farmers,quality controlof aquacultureinputs, financial market development, agricultural insurance, promotion of the production-consumptionlinkage, and formation of value chain for the shrimp productin coming years.
Epidemiology Characteristics of Canine Distemper Diseases in Dogs in Hanoi

This study aimedto determine the prevalence of Canine distemper disease in Hanoi as an important information for disease prevention. An epidemiological study on 18244 dogs was conducted in some veterinary clinics in Hanoi from 2013 to 2018. The clinical diagnosiswas based on the specific clinical signs. Treatment and clinical outcome were followed after confirming by CDV Ag test kit.The study found that575 (3,15%) dogswereinfected with Canine distemper virus (CDV) in 14 popular dog breeds with the typiclcal gastrointestinal, respiratory and neurological symptoms. Mong Coc breed hadthe highest positive proportion (6.32%), followed by Becgiebreed (5.56%), Corgi breed (4.28%), Alaska (4.27%). The lowest positive percentage (1.62%) was observed in Rottweiler breed. The infection and successful treatment percentage significantly differred from one year to another (P <0.05). Among age groups, dogsaged 2-6 months old hadthe highest CDV positive rate (60.35%), followed by group of 6-12 months old (15.13%), under 2 months old (12,35%) and lowest in over 12 months old dogs(12.17%). The prevalence of CDV among seasonsof winter, spring and autumn were 39.13%, 35.82% and 11.83%, respectively. The infected CDV dogs also had statistically significant difference in age and season of the year (P <0.05).
Evaluation of Salt Tolerance of Taro (Colocasiaesculenta(L.) Schott var. antiquorum) Cultivarsat the Early Vegetative Stage

The pot experiments were carried out to evaluate growth and salt tolerance at early vegetative stageof five taro cultivars, viz. Tim Tua Chua, Trang Pu Nhung, Tim Moc Chau, Trang Thuan Chau and KS4,under four different salinity levels. Four-leaf plants were treated with four NaCllevelsof 0%,0.15%, 0.3%, and 0.45%for eight weeks. The results indicated that taro cultivars reponded differently to salinitylevel.Tim Moc Chau was the most salt tolerant cultivar, followed by Trang Pu Nhung, Trang Thuan Chau, and Tim Tua Chua, whereas KS4 was the most salt susceptible cultivar. The growth of cv. Tim Moc Chau was enhanced at0.15% NaCl and thiswas maintained atNaCl of 0.45% in 8 weeks. Shoot dry weight wasnot correlatedwith root dry weight but positively correlated with petiole length, leaf blade width and length, and plant canopy diameter.
