Roles of Escherichia coliand Salmonellaspp. in Diarrhoea in Pre- and Post-Weaning Piglets: A Research in An Industrial Farm Model

The contribution of Eschrichia coli (E.coli) and Salmonella spp. to diarrhoea of pre- and post-weaning piglets was investigated in Son Tra industrial farm in Bac Ninh province. The isolation rates for E.coli from fecal samples of pre- and post-weaning diarrheic piglets were 86.2 and 78%, respectively. Serotype O149 comprised the highest percentage (48%) followed by O101 (20%); O64 (12%) and O8 (8%) in isolates from pre-weaning piglets. Among isolates from post-weaning piglets, O141 comprised 43.7%, followed by O139 (28.1%), O149 and O138 (9.3% for each serotype). Genes encoding for STa, STb, LT, F4, and F18 were detected at 32; 44; 24; 44 and 32% in isolates from pre-weaning whereas, from fecal samples of post-weaning piglets, the detection rates was 65.5; 21.8; 59.4; 0 and 34.3%, respectively. The virulence was found higher for isolates from pre-weaning piglets. Salmonella spp. were detected only from fecal samples of post-weaning piglets with lower incidence in comparasion to previous reports and all of the isolates were S.typhimurium with very high virulence. High susceptibility of both E.coli and Salmonella isolates to Apramycin, Cephalothin, Amikacin, Certiofur was observed. Taken together, E.coli seemed to play a dominant role in diarrhoea of pre-weaning piglets in an industrial farm and that can be shared by Salmonella spp. in post-weaning counterparts.
Factors Infuencing Non-agricultural Employment in Rural Area in Hanoi City

The study employedanalytical econometric model to measure the possibility of non-agricultural jobs in rural area of Hanoi. The panel 2010-2012 data of Vietnamhousehold living standards surveywere estimated using probit regression probability model. The results showedthat the education level of Hanoirural workers playeda significant role in wage employment or self-employment. If number of year schooling of workers increases oneyear, the opportunity for getting a non-agricultural employment increases 3%.If other factors remain constant, 1% increase in schooling will lead to 3% increase in non-agricultural jobs. Besides,job creation programs also have a positive impact on opportunityof non-agricultural employment of rural workers. Economic growth leads to an increase of enterprises in rural areas as well as the possibility of finding non-agricultural jobs.
Solition to the Management of Labor Export Activities of Labor Export Enterprises in Hanoi

The purpose of the study was to understand the current situation and to propose solutions for labor export management issues at labor export enterprises in Hanoi. The results showed that the management activities in those labor export enterprises strictly followed processes and achieved certain efficiency. However, the implementation processes has revealed many shortcomings, such as un-seriously in planning, mass recruitment and training... The main factors affecting these included unqualified staff involving in managing labor export activities and labor export supply and unapproapriate labor export policy. Eight groups of solution proposed included good planning, strengthening marketing and market development activities, improving recruit process, enhancing the quality of vocational education and training, strengthening the overseas labor management, enhancing control, evaluation and adjustment and improving the capacity of the labor managers.
OPTIMIZATION OF FACTORS AFFECTING SYRUP PRODUCTION FROM "SIM" FRUIT (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa) FOR HIGH ANTHOCYANIN CONCENTRATION AND GOOD QUALITY

Rhodomyrtus tomentosaor Rose Myrtleis a wild plant native to Southeast Asia. Itsberry orfruit is sweet, edible and medicinallyused as a folk remedy for various diseases. The fruitcontains high concentration of anthocyanin,a natural polyphenol withpowerful antioxidantactivity. In this study, Sim fruitsharvested from Mang-Den, a highland area in Komtum, were pretreated withpectinase to maximize yield, transmittance (clarify) and anthocyanin in the filtrate. After taste adjustmentwith sugar and citric acid, the juice was pasteurized for preservation. The extraction by pectinase enzymes was optimized using response surface methodology. The results showed that the extraction condition with 0.1% pectinase at 40oC in 60 min wasoptimal for maximum yield of fruit juice (62.93%), clarity (T=38.3%) and amount of anthocyanin (68.52 mg/L). Pasteurizationwith PU858,3 = 9.18 minutes at 85oC for 4 minutes yielded syrup withgood safety and high anthocyanin concentration.
Estimating Heritability of Production Traits and Lean Meat Percentage in Stress Negative Piétrain Pigs

This study was conducted to estimate heritability of growth traits andlean meat percentage of stress negative Piétrain pigs raised in Dong Hiep livestock farm, Hai Phong province and animal farm of Hanoi University of Agriculture. Sample sizes were 2093, 1380, 895, 494, 338 and 470 for body weight at birth, weaning,60 days, 7.5 months, average daily gain (ADG) and lean meat percentage respectively. Two softwares (Harvey andMTDFREML) were used to estimatethe heritability for each trait. Results showed that stress negative Piétrain pig had a high lean meat percentage(64.12%), however ADG was low (489.54 g per day) due to selection programme and small population. Heritabilitis of body weight at birth, weaning, 60 days, 7.5 months of age, ADG and lean meat percentage were 0.13, 0.12, 0.25, 0.23, 0.31 and 0.19 respectively. These values are consistent with previous studies, except the heritability of lean meat percentage relatively low.

The Situation and Solutions to Improve The Quality of Vocational Training for Rural Labors in Nam Dinh Province

After the Decision 1956 was issued by the Government, Nam Dinh province has paid much attention to and fully implemented the Scheme for vocational training for rural labors in the Province. In the past five years (2010-2014), although the percentageof rural labors trained increasedbutthere existed some limitations in the quality. Corrective measures have been employedwith limited sucess in terms ofpractical effects. This study focusedon evaluating the quality of vocational training for rural labors during the last few yearsto identifyfactors influencingthe quality of vocational training for rural labors in Nam Dinh Province and to recommend some effective solutions to improve the quality of vocational training for rural labors in the Province in the near future.

Sử dụng phương pháp lặp theo hàm mũ để giải phương trình truyền neutron trong lò phản ứng hạt nhân với cấu trúc hình học phẳng, một chiều bằng phương pháp mô phỏng Monte Carlo để xác định trị riêng và hàm riêng (tương ứng với sự phân bố của nguồn phân hạch) tồn tại hai vấn đề chính là: (1) sự hội tụ chậm của nguồn phân hạch dự đoán ban đầu về phân bố thực; (2) mối liên hệ giữa các chu kỳ trong mỗi mô phỏng sẽ dẫn đến sai số khi đánh giá độ tin cậy của kết quả thu được. Do đó, nghiên cứu này đã đề cập tới một phương pháp mới, Wielandt, với mục đích tăng tốc quá trình hội tụ của nguồn ban đầu và đưa ra phương án mới để đánh giá mối liên hệ giữa các chu kì liên tiếp trong một mô phỏng độc lập. Ngôn ngữ lập trình hướng đối tượng có tên gọi Python đã được sử dụng để mô tả sự truyền của hạt neutron đơn năng, đồng thời so sánh kết quả thu được bằng hai phương pháp khác nhau. Kết quả cho thấy, phương pháp mới đã giải quyết thành công các vấn đề đặt ra của bài toán Monte Carlo. Tuy nhiên, bài toán về hệ số phẩm chất vẫn cần tiếp tục nghiên cứu thêm.

This study was conducted to estimate breeding values (BV)of average daily weight gainBLUPs method ofstress negative Piétrain pigs raised atDong Hiep livestock farm, Hai Phong province and Animal farm of Vietnam National University of Agriculture. The dataof 373 individualswereused to estimate breeding values.In addition,BV estimates of 20 sires and average daily gain of504 stress negative Piétrain pigs (245 boars and 259 gilts) born from these 20 sires were used to estimate relationship between breeding values of sires and average daily weight gainof progenies.The results showed that there was apositive associationbetween breeding values of sires and average daily gain of progenies.Average daily gainof progeniesfrom the top 5% sires according to BV estimate was 551.20 g/day. These values decreased to 546.07, 536.94and 530.50 g/daywhenselection intensity decreased to 10%, 15% and 20%, respectively.Based on estimates ofbreeding value by BLUPfor thestress negativePiétrain boarsthe the productivity performance of progenies was improved: the selected boar proportions5, 10, 15, 20% improved13.25; 12.20; 10.32; and 9%, respectively,of the average daily gainof progenies.

Water-pine shoots (Glyptostrobus pensilis) derived fromin invitroculture of 8mm in sizewere grafted(whip grafting) onepicotylsof 30 day-oldChinese Fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata) plantlets. The Chinese firindividuals were produced by sowing seedson basalt and coconut fibermix with 7:3 ratioand 70%moisture The mix wasautoclaved at 1210C, 1 atm for 2 hours to sterilize. This grafting method producedcomplete invitrografted plants. They survived and grew well after transplanting tothe naturalconditions. The resultsmight contribute to research forconservation of a rare and endangered water-pinespecies.
Application of RT-PCRfor Detection of InfectiousbronchitisDisease in Laying Hens in Some Northern Provinces of Vietnam

Infectious bronchitis (IB) is one of the severe infectious disease causing tremendous economic losses in the poultry industry. In order to have an effective strategy for disease prevention and control, a method for rapid and accurate dectection of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is urgently needed. In this study, the tissue samples oflung, trachea and kidney collected from IB-suspected laying hens in three hen farms in Hanoi (Ba Vi District), Thai Nguyen and Bac Ninh have been diagnosed by the RT-PCR method. The diagnostic results showed that 34/71 (47,88%) samples were positive with the IBV.The common clinical signs ofIBV-infected hens included fever, depression, loss ofappetite,dyspnea, coughing, sneezing, tracheal rales, nasal discharge, diarrhea, fluid retention in the abdomen, facial swelling and conjunctivitis. The pathological signs in IBV-infected hensincluded kidney swelling (90%), tracheal hemorrhagea (77.5%), pulmonary hemorrhage and congestion(63,7%), inflammation of airsacculitis (60%) and upper respiratory tract (57,5%). Egg production and quality in IBV-infected laying hensdecreased by 20,7to 43%.
Solutions for Development Marine Cage Culture in NghiSon Gulf, TinhGia District, ThanhHoa Province

In Thanh Hoa province, there is only a region in Nghi Son Gulf, Tinh Gia district, where farmers have developed pisciculture Marine cage culture. The sea fish farming has increased recently but it has shownevidences ofunsustainable development. The reason could be a high fish density per cage over the efficient level. As a result, the productivity of pisciculture using cages has decreased in recent years. In addition, pisciculturists using cages have faced a number of challenges such as a lack of money capital, a long distance of baby fish, unstable fish feeds,increasedwater pollution, and unstable market. Therefore, this research applied aggregated statiscal method, comparative method and analysis to clarifythe situation and factors affecting the pisciculture using cages in the region, and to propose a set of solutions for development of sea fish farming to exploit the potentials of the region.
Mapping Land Units and Evaluating Land Suitability for Agricultural Production in Ha Tinh CitySuburbs

The study area included3 communes (Thach Quy, Thach Mon and Thach Ha) in the suburbs of Ha Tinh city: The total area is 760.62 ha. Sixclassification criteria were identifiedincluding soil type, terrain, top soil depth, texture, soil fertility and irrigation regime. Consequently, sixcorresponding thematic maps were constructed using GIS functions in ArcGIS software. Those maps were overlaid in order to construct a land unit map. The results showedthat there were 31 land mapping units(LMU), among which LMU number 16 had the smallest area (9.64 ha)whileLMU number 31 had the largest area (113.6 ha). Both of them are Thionic Pluvisols in FAO classification. By assessing the land quality of the LMUs, 456.05 ha were identified assuitable for paddy rice, 490.49 ha suitable for paddy rice and vegetable cultivation,alternately and 526.62 ha suitable for vegetable cultivation.
Investigating ThePrevalence of Novel Porcine Circovirus 3 (PCV3) in Pig Populations in The North of Vietnam

Circoviruses has been detected in diverse animal species, including sus scrofa. To date, only PCV2 is demonstrated as a causalagent of porcine circovirus associated diseases. In 2015, a novel circovirus (Porcine circovirus 3, PCV3) was detected for the first time from pigs suffered from porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome and reproductive failure. Since then, PCV3 has been reported in several pig producing countries. This study was carriedout to investigate the presence and the prevalence of PCV3 in the pig populations in northern Vietnam. The PCR screening detected the presence of PCV3 in 6 out of 135 samples (4.44%) collected from7 Northern provinces in 2011 and 2016-2017and fivestrains were successfully sequenced. The capsid coding gene (ORF2) of 5 strains were 642 bases in length, containing39 point nucleotide mutations and 9 mutations were non-synonymous. The phylogenetic analysis on the basisof ORF2 gene suggested that 5 Vietnamese PCV3 strains belonged to PCV3bgenetic cluster, of which, 4 out of 5 strains were clustered closely with Chinese PCV3 strains.
Preliminary Results on Transfer of Frozen Gender-separated Embryos in Cattle of TH Milk Joint Stock Company in Nghia Dan, Nghe An

From December, 2015 to December, 2016, for the first time 1,117 frozen gender-separated embryos were imported to Vietnam. In the cooperation program between TH milk group and Sexing Technology Companythe embryos weretransferred to aherd of heifers from 13 - 16 months old in TH’s Farm in Nghia Dan, Nghe An. Total 2143 heifers were synchronized for estrus by PGF2α. 1,661/2,143 = 77.5%%, in which 1,035 /1,637= 63.2% heifers were qualifiedfor receivingembryo. 1,051 gender separated embryos were transferred to1,051 heifers (in which 1,035 estrous heifers by injection PGF2α and 16 heifers naturally estrous). After 35 days of embryo transplantation(42 days age of embryo) the pregnancy was checked by Ultrasound or by rectal palpation. 488/1,051 = 46.4% heifers became pregnant, the pregnancy rate depending onseason, farmcondition, quality and location of corpus luteum on heifer receivingembryos, and skillsof technicians. The highest pregnancy rate was52.6%and thelowest was 40.9%. During the pregnancy, 10% of pregnant heifers showed abortionand5% with stillborn. The pregnant heifers gave birth to203 normal calves, including195 female calves (96.05%)and 8 male calves (3.95%).
Applying the Theory of Planned Behavior to Analyse Factors affecting the Adoption of Acacia Tissue Culture Derived Planting Materials in Plantation of Forest Households in the Quang Nam Province

This study was based on theory of planned behavior to investigate factors affecting the behavior on adoption of Acacia tissue culture derived planting materials of forest plantation households according to the certification of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) based in Quang Nam province. The structural equation modeling (SEM) technique on SmartPLS 4.0 was applied to analyze the data from 171 FSC households in study site of three districts: Tien Phuoc, Hiep Duc, and Bac Tra My. The findings indicated that a minor 15.4% of FSC households applied tissue cultured derived planting materials for their plantation. The majority of FSC households have accessed acacia seedlings from local nurseries and companies in commune and district. Efficiency awareness of tissue culture derived planting material use andknowledge of FSC households on Acacia farmingexertedpositive viewtoward tissue culture derived planting materials. The viewpersonal standards, and perceived behavior control on the use of tissue cuntrure derived planting materials positively influencedthe intention to use in the nextcycle of acacia plantation.
Using Compositional Regression Models to Analyze the Relationship Between Weather and Provincial Rice Yield in Vietnam

Rice yield in Vietnam is heavily influenced by climate change, particularly weather patterns. This study aimed to examine the relationship between weather and provincial rice yield in Vietnam from 1987 to 2016. The weather data considered in this analysis included the maximum daily temperature for each province or cityand the total annual rainfall. The Red River Delta and Mekong Delta regions exhibited the highest levels of rice yield. To represent the temperature patterns across a given year, a compositional vector consisting of 28 dimensions was utilized. Using a compositional regression model, the highest daily temperatures with the greatest impact on rice yield fall within the range of 28°C-30°C. More specifically, the frequency of days within the year that temperatures fall within 28°C-29°C and 29°C-30°Chad the most significant effect on increasing rice yield in Vietnam. Under the climate change scenario RCP2.6, the projected rice yields for all ecological regions in the year 2099 are estimated lower than those in 2016. The climate scenarios RCP4.5, RCP6.0, and RCP8.5 showedheterogeneous impacts on the difference in rice yield in 2099 and 2016.
Enhancing the Attraction of EnterpriseInvestment in Agriculture in Thai Binh Province

This study aimed to assess the current status and propose solutions to encourage enterprises to invest in agriculture in Thai Binh province. The study surveyed information from 90 enterprises, and consulted 20 experts who are managers and scientists on policies, solutions, difficulties and obstacles when investing in agriculture in Thai Binh province. The study used descriptive and comparative statistical methods and combined with a random effects regression model for panel data to analyze the factors affecting the investment capital of enterprises in agriculture in the province. Recommendations to increase business investment in agriculture in Thai Binh province focused on raising the awareness and political determination of all levels of government; attracting key investment and unlock new growth drivers; supporting land accumulation and concentration; developing human resources associated with enterprises employing labor; increasing mobilization of resources for investment in infrastructure.
Barriers and Solutions Proposed for Scaling - out the Sustainable Rice Productionin the Mekong River Delta

Sustainable rice production (SRP) is one of the solutions to help increase the value of rice, while contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to achieve the government's Net zero goal. Implementing and scaling-out SRP meeting standards are a challenge for the rice industry and localities. This study aimed to assess the current situation,barriers and influencing factors to propose solutions for developing the SRP in the Mekong Delta. The study surveyed 318 farming households implementing the SRP standard in 3 provinces An Giang, Dong Thap and Can Tho in 2022. Besides descriptive statistics, the study used binary regression to determine influencing factors and level of compliance with SRP standards. The results show that about 7.2% of farming households met the SRP standard. The education level of the household head, land area size and contract production exerted a positive influence on the probability of meeting the SRP standard. Proposed solutions to increase the proportion of farming households that meet SRP standards are to improve farmer capacity, increase the proportion of young people in production, and improve straw collection and stubble treatment, local service infrastructure, and contract farming according to the rice value chain approach.
Biological and Molecular Biological Characterizations ofa Pseudorabies Virus Strain Isolated from Pigs in Vietnam

Pseudorabies has been known in Vietnam for a long time and is still one of the most devastating diseases of particular concern of animal breeders. Despite the emerging and prevailing of variants the virus in many countries around the world since 2010, to date, there is scarce information about the disease as well as the virus circulating in Vietnam. This study aimed to clarify some basic biological and molecular characteristics of an isolate, PRV.PT.001 strain. The isolated strain quickly adapted, induced typical syncytium on Vero cells and reached a relatively high titer after 7 passages (106.58TCID50/ml). The isolate had common characteristics of the virus that causes pseudorabies: it is pathogenic to rabbits and piglets, induces consistent lesions in the respiratory tract, and is widely distributed in many internal organs. Regarding genetic characteristics, strain PRV.PT.001 belongs to genotype 2, carrying typical insertion-deletion mutations in 3/4 of the investigated surface glycoproteins (gB, gC, gD ); but has the characteristic insertion-deletion mutation of genotype 1 in gE glycoprotein.

Để thích ứng với sự thay đổi của môi trường kinh tế - xã hội, đặc biệt là đại dịch COVID-19, đòi hỏi các ngân hàng tại Việt Nam phải đổi mới và phát triển các loại hình dịch vụ trong đó có tài trợ thương mại. Với số liệu khảo sát từ 165 nhân viên làm việc tại Ngân hàng thương mại cổ phần Công thương Việt Nam (VietinBank) trong năm 2023. Bài viết với mục đích tìm ra được các yếu tố chính tác động tới hoạt động tài trợ thương mại, để từ đó có các biện pháp hợp lý tăng cường phát triển hoạt động tài trợ thương mại, hoạt độngtạo ra “thu nhập từ phí”, chiếm phần lớn trong thu nhập ngoài lãi của ngân hàng. Bằng phương pháp phân tích yêu tố khám phá (EFA), nghiên cứu này đã chỉ ra việc đa dạng hóa dịch vụ trong đó phải kể đến là sản phẩm UPAS LC đã có tác động tích cực nhất tới việc đẩy mạnh hoạt động tài trợ thương mại. Ngoài ra, các yếu tố như năng lực tài chính và ứng dụng chuyển đổi số cũng tác động tích cực, nhưng rủi ro lại là nhân tố tác động tiêu cực đến hoạt động tài trợ thương mại tại VietinBank. Từ đó, bài viết đề xuất một số kiến nghị nhằm thúc đẩy hoạt động tài trợ thương mại tại VietinBank trong thời gian tới.

Isolation and Selection of Antagonistic Bacteria Against AlternariaalternataCausing Leaf Spot Disease on Cucumber

Alternarialeaf spot on cucumber causes serious damage to marketable fruit yield and quality. The study was carried out to select bacterial strains from the cucumber rhizosphere soil with antagonistic activity against Alternariaalternata. The isolates were evaluated for their antifungal activity by dual culture method. The antagonistic isolates were investigated for their ability to produce hydrolytic enzymes and siderophore. The antifungal activity of volatile organic compounds was evaluated by the Petri dish inversion method. Twelve isolates exhibited antagonism against A. alternata. Growth inhibition of A. alternataby these isolates ranged from 9.7 to 47.8%. Eight isolates showed the ability to produce siderophore. All isolates were capable of producing hydrolytic enzymes (β-1,3-glucanase, chitinase, protease). Chitinase had a strong correlation with the ability to inhibit the growth of the pathogenic fungus (P <0.05). Volatile organic compounds of 12 antagonistic strains showed the ability to inhibit the growth of spores (61.8-95.2%) and mycelium (58.9-79.7%) of A. alternataThe results of this study indicated the potential of rhizobacteria in controlling A. alternatacausing leaf spot in cucumbers.
