• Primary Research on Parasitic Nematodes in Some Coastal Marine Fish of Quang Binh Province

  Parasitic nematodesnot only cause disease ofmarine fishandreduce fish production but also spread to humansand cause disease. The results of research on fauna, biology, ecology of the parasitic nematodes in marine fishes are the premise for the prevention of parasitic nematode diseases in aquaculture and medicine. This paper was the first documented case of parasitic infection and composition of parasitic nematodes in some coastal marine fish of Quang Binh province. A total of 240 fish individuals of 40 species, 26 families, 8 orders collected from the coastal of Quang Binh province were examined for nematodes. Of these, 93 (38.75%) fish were infected with nematodes with the intensity ranged from 1 to 148 nematodes/ fish. Fifteen nematode species of 3 orders, 6 families, 11 genus were identified by morphology, adding 4 species to thefauna of Vietnam and six new fish host species of these nematode species..

  This study was conducted to assess the soil properties and soil nutrient contents in Kham Muon Province, Lao PDR,as a basis to propose improvements and variable crops for cultivation purposes. The results showed that the soil had light soil texture (sandy soil), very acidic soil, no saline, high organic matter (OM: 2.6), high N content (N: 0.4%), high total P (TP: 0.1%), total dissolved P (TDP: 5.9mg/100g soil) was relatively high, total sulfur and total dissolved sulfur were high. However, total potassium, total dissolved potassium, calcium and magnesium exchange, micronutrient contents were low, microorganism in underdeveloped soil and high-density population of nematodes. In order to improve the soil quality, lime should be applied to improve the pH, increase the use of organic fertilizers and mulching to prevent soil erosion. Base on the soil analysis results, the variable grasses and crops use as animal feed or vegetable crops, tuber crops, mangos, dragon fruit, pineapples etc. on this soilare proposed to apply.

  Nowadays, agricultural practices cause serious problem for soil environment, especially in the long-term intensive agriculture system. Soil quality assessment using physicochemical method has many disadvantages. On the other hand, soil quality assessment using biological method offers several advantages, i.e. it provides accurate results at the sampling time and can predict long-term effects of pollution on the growth of living organisms in the soil. This study used nematodes as bioindicator to assess the quality of pepper cultivation area in Loc Hung commune at six sampling points, sampling notations were LH1, LH2, LH3, LH4, LH5 and LH6. A total of 35 genera belonging to 21 families and 8 orders were recorded. By analysing the community structure and calculating the biological diversity index (the Margalef index (d), the maturity index (MI), cp value and establishing ecological triangle model), our study showed that the soil quality in this studied area is relatively stable and does not suffer any significant contamination.

  This study was conducted to obtain an effective treatment regimen for intestinal nematodes Pallisentis of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus).Infected fish were randomly taken from an infected pond, examined for clinical signs and lesions of the fish intestine, calculated the prevalence and intensity of infection, and determined worm shape and size. Experimental treatments were levamisole 10mg/kg fish and praziquantel 25 mg/kg fish for 3 consecutive days, combined with anti-inflammatory and hemorrhagic treatment by florphenicol 15 mg/kg fish for five consecutive days. The results showed that fish were infected with pallisentisspp. at a high rate (100%), the average intensity of infection was 45 worms/fish, served hemorrhage of the intestines, intestinal perforation. Infected fish treated with levamisole combined with florphenicol resulted in the highest and most radical treatment effects, 100% of worms were killed, intestinal recovery and fish return to normal after five days of treatment.

• Some Epidemiological Characteristicsof Gastrointestinal Nematode Infection in Pig in Thai Nguyen Province

  An epidemiological study on 3,600 pigs in three districs,Vo Nhai, Phu Luong and Dong Hy,of Thai Nguyen province was carried out from 2010 to 2013. Five species of nematode were detectedin the intestines of pigs. viz.: Gnathostoma doloresi, Ascaris suum, Trichocephalus suis, Strongyloides ransomi andOesophagostomum dentatum.The overall prevalence of gastrointestinal nematodes infections was 68.16%with 82.75% beingfound in pigs from 3 to 6 months of age, followed by pigs over 6 months old (72.25%) and lowest in less than 2 month-oldpigs (49.50%). The prevalence was found highest in mountainousarea (75.50%). The prevalence in summer-autum and winter-spring were 72.00% and 64.33%, respecvely. The highest prevalence was found in free - roaming pigs (96.25%) and the lowest in pigs kept inpens (30.75%).
