The order Araneae deserves a special place in the study of ecology as it acts as a biological indicator. The objectives of the present study were to explore the guild composition and structure of spider families at Cu Lao Dung mangrove forest, Soc Trang Province. Efforts were made to evaluate the ecosystem status of Cu Lao Dung mangrove forest by surveying the diversity and species composition of spiders (class Arachnida, phylum Arthropoda). A total of 58 species of spiders belonging to 14 families were observed, Salticidae being the family with most species (23 scpecies)and accounting for39,7%. Based on classification byCardoso et al. (2006),six different guilds of spiderwere identified: orb web weavers and other hunters (29%), sheet web weavers and ground hunters (14%), space web weavers and ambush hunters (7%). This is the first report of the spider fauna from Cu Lao Dung mangrove forest.
