Abstract
The present study wasaimed at investigating the current statusof afforestation linkage model with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)standards in Tuyen Quang province. Systematic and participatory approach methods were used. Basedon a survey of 120 forest plantinghouseholds, the study revealedthat additional income of households who participated in the linkage model and were able to sell FSC certified timber was 10-15% higher than non-participating households. Although many benefits from FSC afforestation linkage model, the forest area with FSC of households in Tuyen Quang provincewere attained, the afforestation was still in smallscaleand farmers still did not actively participate in the model. The study therefore recommended feasible solutions in order to develop afforestation linkage model with FSC standards in Tuyen Quang province such as enhancing the household’s awareness about benefits of model; establishing an effective permanent linkage structure between wood processing companies and farmers; local governments should play a role in the linkage by supporting and connecting between the two parties.
